Spotlight on Tom Donovan
Tom Donovan has been serving as an Upstream Board member for five years. Prior to his involvement with Upstream, Tom had a long history of supporting the arts, commencing when he went to law school in 1975.
In addition to his support for the arts, he’s also been involved as a Board member in community organizations and served for many years on the Board of the Halifax YMCA. He’s also a founding Board member of Laing House Association, a community youth mental health initiative.
In his opinion, supporting and nurturing arts organizations is a crucial part of community life and that’s why he has endeavoured to be a supporter of these activities for many years. He thinks that the future for Upstream is bright with the new and creative energy that Lukas Pearse has brought to his position, the firm foundation laid by Paul Cram and the crucial administrative support delivered by Gay Osler. All of those efforts have positioned Upstream to be a leader in the new improvisational music scene in Canada and abroad.
